Tata Indicom Sungil CDMA Modem on a Mac OS 10.4

Procedure to connect with Sungil SXC – 1080 USB CDMA modem using Mac OS 10.4
(Data Connectivity only)

I have done it on Tata Indicom network and have a Macbook Pro as well as a Macbook. Your SIM card must be pre-activated on windows or a CDMA phone.

1. Boot your Mac
2. Insert Sungil SXC – 1080 in the USB port
3. Open System Preferences
4. Open Network. A dialog box will open up. Click OK!

5. Go to Location. Make a new location. Say Tata Indicom CDMA

6. Go to Show. Select Qualcomm CDMA Technologies
7. Enter Service Provider to identify connection.
8. Account name for Tata Indicom CDMA: internet
9. Password for Tata Indicom CDMA: internet
10.Telephone Number for Tata Indicom CDMA: #777

11. Click PPP options. Uncheck all but the ones that are checked in the snapshot below.

12. Go to Modem. Select au cdmaOne Bluetooth Adapter
13. Uncheck Enable error connection and compression in modem
14. Uncheck Wait for dial tone before dialing
15. Check modem status in Menu Bar.
16. Hit Apply now. You are now set to connect.

17. Open Internet Connect and click connect

And here are you connected. Wallah!!! It works…

Feel free to drop me a line on trueimages@gmail.com if you still have problems and I shall try to respond as soon as I can. The formula given above is for use of Mac Community, and should work well.

So far, so good. I will check the onnection speed before buying it. Nevertheless, good work and I thank you a lot for that. Just in case you are interested, I am using this modem to connect to Vivo EV-DO network in Brazil using SUNGIL SEC-3089S modem. I had to choose Sierra modem in the list to make it work.
Cheers from Brazil. Márcio.

Thank you for the steps, it worked perfectly for my mac book pro.
Had called the tech person from tata indicom who said that connecting this usb modem is not possible with a mac...and had gone away !
